No one is exceptional of cyber-security threats

Enterprises everywhere need to watch out! With cybercriminals increasing their ambitions, constantly evolving hacking techniques year over year, and with emerging technologies providing more attack surface for hackers, executives and IT leaders must plan for the inevitable. They must know how to respond when a security breach happens, because it will happen. In 2019, every organization should be prepared for these top five security threats. 1. Ransomware & Malware: More Costly than Data Breaches Ransomware is already on track to hit $11.5B in damages for 2019, which roughly translates into someone becoming a new victim every 14 seconds. Using malware or software to deny access to a computer or system until a ransom is paid, these threats are more costly than traditional data breaches alone. But ironically, it’s not the threat of paying a ransom and the cost of stolen data that’s proding executives to heighten their security protections. These days, the motivating factor is m

Why Unemployed Software developers are a cyber security threat?

Software exists to make things we want to repeat -- in the exact same manner, time after time -- easy to access. When I press the “W” key, I expect a bunch of pixels to be placed on the screen in the shape of a W. I want this response to occur every time. Letters are then organized into words, then into sentences and then Microsoft Word. All highly stable, repeatable methods that are tried and true, wrapped in a user interface (UI) that makes it easy to access every repeatable routine. Even the way in which change is made is very slow, thoroughly tested and primarily focused on stability over the speed of change. It is all well and good to enable blue text, but it would be terrible if pressing the keys for a blue W outputted a Z. None of these aspects describe anything in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is warfare, strike and counterstrike. It's chaotic and continuously changing. Products = Stable, repeatable methods Enterprise = Optimized, stable operations Cy

Duties of a software developer

What Software Developers Do Software developers are the creative minds behind computer programs. Some develop the applications that allow people to do specific tasks on a computer or another device. Others develop the underlying systems that run the devices or that control networks. Duties Software developers typically do the following: Analyze users’ needs and then design, test, and develop software to meet those needs Recommend software upgrades for customers’ existing programs and systems Design each piece of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together Create a variety of models and diagrams (such as flowcharts) that show programmers the software code needed for an application Ensure that a program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades Collaborate with other computer specialists to create optimum s

How to stay healthy as a programmer

For whatever else we may love about it, programming can be one of the worst things for your health. Developers face a myriad of physical and mental health challenges in today’s world. Whether it’s wrist and back pain, migraines, eye strain, loss of motivation, or trouble focusing— programming can be a pretty risky profession ! If you haven’t encountered one of these yet, consider yourself lucky (but know that one day, you almost certainly will!). Thankfully, there are lots of simple hacks and techniques to make this better. Here are seven easy ways to take care of yourself and keep your mind and body in excellent shape. 1. Take a walk It’s becoming common knowledge that sitting is the new smoking. We’ve probably all sat in front of our workstations for hours at a time. It’s creating your back problems, straining your eyes, and sapping your energy, and it’s probably why you have a migraine. So take a walk instead! A recent study has shown that adults who walked for
